Hi Everyone...so much for keeping up with weekly writing...I suppose a long vacation and going through the mail/pile up of "stuff" can interfere with blogging...I thought I would do a bit while in Europe, but, IT JUST DID NOT HAPPEN! That is ok, it was not meant to be, but the relaxing and experiences in Spain, Enland and Italy are making for a powerful color palette and energy for "DESIGNING" new venues to show art and have fun while do it! Check out my fb page for my upcoming show at Kriti Collection on 8/26 4-8pm, for Indian Summer, champagne, yummy food, and live music. Come play in Greenwich and book dinner after either in Greenwich or at our newest hot spot in Mt Kisco, the Village Social...eat drink and be merry...NYC in Westchester...late hours! I have 2 new works on display and available for sale (will be put up Monday). We will have an artist reception/show to benefit MSKCC, I am running the NYC Marathon for Fred's Team and cancer research at Sloan Kettering at the end of September/October with more new work created just for this venue.
More news in a few days about my other events...one will be in NYC celebrating Vogue's Fashion Night Out. It is there 2nd annual event and press/celebs will be at Bond No 7/Selima on Bond Street downtown and throughout NYC.
Will post more details soon on this blog and on FB...always feel free to contact me too!

DEFINITION OF "DESIGN"
KTG DESIGN STUDIO, Inc. began as the company name that I needed to select for a tax id, website...etc. Of course, as we all know, we need to find a name for our business that does not exist, so, although I could have used my initials (KPK, which also comes up as my website, I chose to "design" a whimsical name that I have used since I was a child...KTG, aka "Katherine The Great". Not because I think I am so fabulous (although I do "design" to create a successful business), but my Aunt Barbara, who was my mentor as a child/teenager, used to call me "Katherine The Great" to encourage me to work hard and that I had the strength within me to succeed in anything that I desired. The key was to work hard and to believe in myself. With Aunt Barbara as my fire, I worked at her accounting firm (that was not my strength!) and earned money to buy a car, pay for my insurance, clothing, part of my schooling and when I wanted to study in Spain during my 3rd of University, she helped me balance my world and realize that if I worked 3 jobs during the summer that I could make this adventure of my dreams become a reality.
So, I studied in Spain, came back and figured out a way (the short version) to again work hard and earn an internship at IBM Europe in Paris, after graduating with a BA in Advertising...I ended up living in Paris for 1.5 years, added French as my 3rd language, and while in France, researched companies that operated globally so that I could utilize my languages and travel the world while earning a living. Within 4 months of returning to Michigan (nice place to grow up, but it was time to leave!), I came to NYC for 3 interviews and my language skills helped me to get my 1st job in the perfume development business at IFF (International Flavors and Fragrances). So, my Aunt Barbara's belief in me gave me the confidence to believe in the name she gave me, KTG, and here I am, no longer in the fragrance and cosmetic business, but continuing to "Design" in many different areas.
Ok, so, now you know where KTG comes from...Kate The Great Design Studio started with my painting of watercolor, acrylic, oil and multimedia and continued into Interior Design, Staging, Exterior Design, Construction Design for New Homes/Renovations and it is ever expanding to Web and logo design, PR for "Designers", PR for charities and other businesses, PR for musicians...etc. see KTGDESIGNSTUDIO.COM for some of my recent work.

SOLO ARTIST AT KATE SPADE GREENWICH FOR ART TO THE AVENUE
IF YOU DID NOT GET TO SEE MY LASTEST SHOW IN GREENWICH CT AT THE KATE SPADE BOUTIQUE, I WILL BE ADDING THE PHOTOS FROM THE OPENING TO MY WEBSITE, KTGDESIGNSTUDIO.COM.
I'm Back
Ok, it is about time. I created this site over 1 year ago and I am now ready to make it active and write on a regular basis. I plan to blog about areas of art, design and marketing/advertising that are not only interesting, but unique and of value to individuals of all backgrounds.
I will give design/renovation/houselift tips, new art exhibits that are a "must see", ideas to refresh your business and promote it to keep it interesting, and anything else that comes to mind.
One of the beauties of being "me" is that I am comfortable going outside of the box, and therefore, I will write about anything that "hits" me as interesting. My hope is that you will find it interesting too.
Always feel free to offer suggestions about topics that you would like me to advise upon.
Here's to making your world beautiful, peaceful, interesting, productive and to putting a smile on your face.
